Megan McDonald Scanlon

A former captain in the U.S. Army, Megan concentrates her practice in the areas of development, acquisition, financing and leasing of commercial real estate. Megan’s practice includes representing clients in the development of large-scale residential and commercial property and a wide range of negotiations and transactions representing landlords, tenants, developers, lenders, and borrowers. Her real estate experience includes Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), tenant-in-common (TIC), Delaware Statutory Trusts (DST) transactions, 1031 syndications, conduit lending, commerical loans, refinancing and loan workouts. Megan additionally has extensive experience working with residential, mixed use, commercial, and "new urbanism" Common Interest Communities throughout Virginia and regularly advises community association and condominium boards of directors on operations, regulatory compliance, and amending association governing documents. Megan has also represented regulants before the Virginia Department of Professional Occupation (DPOR), the Real Estate Board, and the Virginia Common Interest Community Board in responding to complaints.

For the last 8 years, Megan has, and continues to speak regularly for educational seminars, conventions, and classes sponsored by the Central Virginia and Southeastern Virginia Chapters of the Community Associations Institute (CAI).
